Salmon River, Oswego River Oneida Lake Fishing Report 12/6/11
Here we are in December with weather more like October and fishing like you read about! Wow! is all I can say. The bite just doesn't stop.
The rain showers and warm temps have brought the levels up in area streams. The big question now is where to go. The water on the Salmon River is 1500cfs plus run-off.
Look for fish moving up from the lower river. Fish the pockets and the faster water in the head or tailouts of the deeper pools. All offerings will produce fish right now. Flies, eggs, beads, lures the choice is yours. For colors, try pink and chartreuse egg sacs if the water is colored and blue or white if it is clear.
On the Oswego, the water level is about 12000cfs. A great flow to fish the lower river behind the Hotels. The fish are starting to show up in the Harbor area. White 1/8 to 1/4 oz jigs tipped with a worm or minnow is the ticket there.
On Oneida Lake Night casting for walleyes continues to be good along the shore of Oneida Lake. Dutchman's and Lewis Point continue to be active areas. Perch are being taken along the rockpiles with worms and minnows.
Be careful out there and please respect our fishery. Pick up your garbage and put a few back for another day.
See you out there, Troy
